On September 16th, the Tsinghua PBC School of Finance Carbon Neutrality Economics Forum was held at the main building of Tsinghua University. Following the opening ceremony, the sub-forum "Carbon Neutrality and Energy Transformation" took place. This forum, themed "Large Enterprises in Action – Key Points of the Carbon Neutrality Roadmap," featured presentations from speakers from large domestic and international companies. Professor Pan Qingzhong of Tsinghua University, Executive Vice Dean of Schwarzman College, and Vice President of the China Public Relations Association moderated the sub-forum.

Jon Penrice
Jon Penrice, President of Dow Asia Pacific, delivered a speech via video link. He stated that the transition to a low-carbon economy is one of the fundamental challenges of our time, requiring global cooperation to address. China, as a global manufacturing powerhouse, plays a crucial role. He expressed his hope to see China, through the joint efforts of its government, businesses, and society, find scientific methods to overcome this challenge. He noted that Dow is actively addressing global climate change, committed to reducing carbon emissions, lowering energy consumption, and increasing the proportion of renewable energy used. Looking ahead, Dow hopes to establish connections with more partners in China to jointly explore development models for carbon reduction and emission alleviation.

Lu Tiezhong
Lu Tiezhong, Party Secretary and Chairman of China Nuclear Power Co., Ltd., shared via video link how clean energy companies can leverage their low-carbon advantages to promote the achievement of the "dual-carbon" goal. He pointed out that nuclear energy has inherent low-carbon advantages, and developing nuclear energy is the most realistic strategic choice for achieving the "dual-carbon" goal. my country's nuclear power generation share still has significant room for growth; the higher the proportion of nuclear power in my country's energy structure, the more beneficial it is to the security of the entire power grid system. Over the past few decades, my country's nuclear power industry has accumulated considerable experience in talent, operational capabilities, and independent design and construction. The national nuclear power policy has also become increasingly clear and explicit, and my country possesses all the conditions to become a nuclear power powerhouse. Standing at the new starting point of moving from a major nuclear power to a leading nuclear power and contributing to the achievement of the "dual-carbon" goal, China Nuclear Power will pursue a five-pronged approach to empower a clean and beautiful future. The "dual-carbon" goal has set new requirements for the high-quality development of the nuclear energy industry. China Nuclear Power will seize new opportunities and contribute Chinese wisdom and solutions to the development of nuclear power worldwide.

Dang Yanbao
Dang Yanbao, Chairman of Baofeng Energy Group, shared insights on coal chemical industry and new energy, focusing on the theme of carbon neutrality and energy transformation. He stated that the arrival of the carbon-neutral era will reshape the future energy landscape and lifestyles, having a broad and profound impact on the green development of human society. As the world's largest energy producer and consumer, achieving the "dual carbon" target on schedule will be a tough battle for China. China must exert comprehensive efforts in promoting energy transformation, developing clean energy, reducing carbon emissions, and increasing carbon absorption. In recent years, Baofeng has focused on scientific governance and source control, driving industrial upgrading through technological innovation, accelerating low-carbon transformation and green development, and was the first in the industry to propose a corporate carbon neutrality target. To achieve this goal, Baofeng has made unremitting efforts in promoting process upgrades, intelligent equipment, and energy structure optimization, fully utilizing the unique resource advantages of western China. Simultaneously, Baofeng continues to deepen industry-university-research cooperation, jointly establishing multiple special funds with Tsinghua University to support the development of research personnel and research work in related fields, providing intellectual support for achieving the "dual carbon" target as soon as possible.

Tang Xuhui
Tang Xuhui, Chairman of LONGi New Energy Co., Ltd., gave a brief report on China's exploration and achievements in green electricity and green hydrogen. Tang introduced the development of China's photovoltaic industry over the past decade, comparing it with the current state of the international photovoltaic industry. He noted that my country still has room for technological improvement, and industry costs will further decrease. China's photovoltaic industry is a world leader in materials, technology, applications, and equipment integration, possessing autonomy and strong international competitiveness. In the future, LONGi will further focus on cost reduction and efficiency improvement in the photovoltaic industry. Simultaneously, the country is vigorously developing a new power system based on new energy sources. Green hydrogen can effectively replace coke as a raw material for chemical smelting, effectively reducing carbon emissions. In the past, LONGi led the development of the entire industry through technology. In the future, LONGi will adopt a zero-carbon development model, constructing a sustainable development ecosystem and contributing to the realization of the "dual carbon" goals.

Release ceremony for the documentary "Embracing the Energy Transformation"
The forum concluded with a special segment where guests from Tsinghua University and Sinopec jointly released a major documentary, "Embracing the Energy Transformation." Produced by China Economic Publishing House, the documentary chronicles the history of China's energy sector over the past 70 years and looks ahead to the future development of the energy industry. Following the documentary screening, the forum concluded successfully.
